Arm Lift: Brachioplasty for Sagging Upper Arm Skin

An arm lift (brachioplasty) removes excess skin and sometimes fat from the upper arm to create a firmer, more toned appearance. The inner upper arm is one of the areas most prone to skin laxity after significant weight loss or with advancing age, and cannot be addressed effectively through exercise alone.

Procedure

The incision runs along the inner upper arm from the armpit (axilla) to the elbow. Excess skin is excised, the remaining skin is re-draped and sutured. Can be combined with liposuction for fat removal before skin excision.

Types

Standard Brachioplasty

Full incision from axilla to elbow. For significant skin excess — most correction, most visible scar.

Mini Arm Lift

Short scar limited to the armpit area. For mild to moderate excess in the upper portion of the arm only.

Brachioplasty + Liposuction

Combined approach when excess fat is present alongside skin laxity. Liposuction first, then skin excision.

Recovery

  • Compression bandage/garment for 4–6 weeks
  • Return to desk work: 1–2 weeks
  • Avoid raising arms or heavy lifting: 4–6 weeks
  • Scar maturation: 12–18 months
