Abdominal Liposuction: Methods, Costs & Results
Abdominal liposuction is one of the most frequently performed body contouring procedures worldwide. It removes localized fat deposits in the abdominal region that are resistant to diet and exercise. Liposuction does not treat obesity or excess skin — it is a contouring procedure for patients who are close to their ideal weight.
Liposuction Techniques for the Abdomen
Tumescent Liposuction (Standard Method)
The most widely used technique. A tumescent solution (saline + epinephrine + lidocaine) is infused into the fat, which swells the tissue, constricts blood vessels and provides local anaesthesia. Fat is then removed through thin cannulas. Minimizes bleeding and supports even results.
VASER (Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction)
Ultrasonic energy breaks up fat cells before suctioning. Particularly suitable for more fibrous areas and for patients seeking simultaneous skin tightening. Can achieve more defined results (High-Definition Liposuction).
Laser-Assisted Liposuction (SmartLipo, Slim Lipo)
Laser energy liquefies fat and simultaneously stimulates collagen production, which can tighten the overlying skin. Suitable for patients with mild skin laxity.

FAQ
Are the results permanent?
Yes — removed fat cells do not grow back. However, remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain. The best long-term results are achieved with a stable weight after surgery.
Can liposuction be combined with abdominoplasty?
Yes. Lipo-abdominoplasty combines both procedures and is often the optimal solution when excess skin and fat are both present. Must be planned carefully to avoid compromising blood supply.
