Penis Enlargement: Surgical and Non-Surgical Methods

Penis enlargement (penile augmentation) encompasses both surgical and non-surgical techniques to increase penile girth, length or both. It is important to have realistic expectations: average erect penis length is 12–15 cm, and most men seeking enlargement are within the normal range.

Non-Surgical Methods

Hyaluronic Acid Filler Injection

Cross-linked hyaluronic acid is injected into the subcutaneous tissue of the penile shaft to increase girth. Results are immediate. Duration: 12–18 months. Reversible with hyaluronidase. Requires experienced physician.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP injections ("P-Shot") aim to improve sensation, erectile function and mild girth. Evidence limited.

Surgical Methods

Autologous Fat Transfer (Lipofilling)

Fat harvested by liposuction is processed and injected into the penile shaft. Longer-lasting than HA filler. Risk: uneven fat absorption leading to irregularities. Requires revision in some cases.

Ligament Release (Suspensory Ligament Division)

Divides the suspensory ligament that anchors the penis to the pubic bone, allowing more of the penile shaft to extend outside the body — typically gaining 1–3 cm of flaccid length. Does not increase erect length significantly. Risk: reduced upward angle of erection.

Costs
