PRP Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy: Vampire Facelift with Own Blood

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy uses the patient's own blood to extract a concentrated serum rich in growth factors and platelets. This autologous plasma is then injected into the skin, scalp, or joints to stimulate tissue regeneration, collagen production and healing.

How PRP Is Prepared

  1. Blood draw (20–60 ml) from the patient's arm
  2. Centrifugation to separate blood components
  3. Extraction of the platelet-rich plasma layer
  4. Injection of activated PRP into the target tissue

Applications

Facial Skin Rejuvenation

PRP is injected intradermally or used after microneedling to improve skin texture, radiance and fine lines. Often called "vampire facelift" when combined with hyaluronic acid.

Hair Loss (Alopecia)

PRP is injected into the scalp to stimulate dormant hair follicles. Effective for androgenetic alopecia (pattern baldness) and alopecia areata. Protocol: 3–4 sessions monthly, then maintenance every 3–6 months.

Orthopaedic/Joint

Injected into joints (knee, shoulder, hip) for osteoarthritis and tendon injuries. Growing body of clinical evidence for pain reduction and improved function.

Costs

ApplicationCost per session
PRP facial rejuvenation€300–€600
PRP hair loss scalp€300–€600
PRP joint injection€400–€800

Safety

Since PRP uses the patient's own blood, allergy and rejection risks are minimal. Main risks: mild swelling and bruising at injection sites, infection (if sterility not maintained). Not suitable during anticoagulant therapy or active infection.
