Leg Liposuction: Slim Legs Through Modern Liposuction

Leg liposuction is a surgical procedure for removing stubborn fat deposits on the thighs (inner and outer), knees and calves. It is one of the most frequently requested body contouring procedures, as these areas are often resistant to diet and exercise.

Treatment Areas on the Legs

  • Outer thighs (saddlebags): Most common area; genetic predisposition in women
  • Inner thighs: Friction, chafing; combination with thigh lift possible
  • Knees: Fat pads above and around the kneecap
  • Calves and ankles: Less common; requires particular precision

Methods

Tumescent Liposuction

Standard method: tumescent solution is injected to numb the area and shrink blood vessels. Fat is then removed via thin cannulas. Low blood loss, predictable results.

Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL)

Vibrating cannula breaks up fat cells more efficiently. Particularly suitable for fibrous tissue in the thigh area.

Laser-Assisted Liposuction (LAL / SlimLipo)

Laser energy liquefies fat cells before removal. Additional skin tightening effect — particularly beneficial for inner thighs.

Water-Jet Assisted Liposuction (WAL / Body-Jet)

Gentle jet of water loosens fat cells while preserving surrounding tissue. Suitable for sensitive areas.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is leg liposuction permanent?

Yes — removed fat cells do not grow back. However, if significant weight gain occurs, remaining fat cells can enlarge. Maintaining a stable weight after the procedure is therefore important for lasting results.

Does liposuction help with lipedema?

Yes — liposuction (particularly water-jet or vibration-assisted) is recognised as an effective treatment for lipedema. It reduces the abnormal fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise and alleviates pain and heaviness. Statutory insurance may cover costs for confirmed lipedema Stage II–III.
