Belotero: HA Filler System by Merz Aesthetics for Natural Tissue Integration

Overview: Belotero by Merz Aesthetics

Belotero is a line of hyaluronic acid fillers from Merz Aesthetics, a division of German pharmaceutical company Merz Pharma, headquartered in Frankfurt. Belotero uses the proprietary CPM technology (Cohesive Polydensified Matrix), a unique cross-linking method producing a highly homogeneous HA gel with special integration properties in skin tissue. CE-certified and available in over 60 countries.

CPM Technology

CPM (Cohesive Polydensified Matrix) is Belotero's unique cross-linking process combining both loosely and densely cross-linked HA in a single product. This results in a gel that integrates smoothly into tissue without creating hard lumps or visible ridges, making Belotero particularly suited for superficial injections (very close to the skin surface) — a challenging area where other fillers can appear as visible bluish ridges (Tyndall effect).

Product Range

Belotero Soft: Lowest viscosity, for very fine lines (perioral, crow's feet) and the sensitive tear trough area. Intradermal injection. Belotero Balance: Medium viscosity for nasolabial folds, moderate wrinkles. Belotero Intense: High viscosity for deep nasolabial folds, lip augmentation. Belotero Volume: High cohesion for midface volume, cheek contouring. Belotero Revive: Low cross-linking for skin hydration and quality improvement (biorevitalization).

Indications

Fine perioral and periorbital lines, tear trough correction, nasolabial folds, lip augmentation and contouring, midface volume, skin hydration (Revive).

Results and Longevity

Belotero Soft and Balance: 6 to 12 months. Belotero Intense and Volume: 9 to 18 months. Revive: 6 to 9 months. Fully reversible with hyaluronidase.

Safety

CE-certified, non-animal HA. Common: swelling, redness (3 to 7 days). Rare: bruising, nodules. Very rare but serious: vascular occlusion — immediate hyaluronidase. Tyndall effect risk is particularly low due to CPM technology.

Costs

€300 to €800 per syringe depending on product and region. Tear trough with Belotero Soft: €400 to €700. Not covered by public insurance.

⚠ Legal Notice: Belotero is CE-certified. Physician use only. Vascular complications: immediate hyaluronidase.

Frequently Asked Questions

The CPM technology produces a gel that integrates smoothly into tissue without the Tyndall effect (bluish discoloration through light reflection) that can occur with other fillers in the very thin skin under the eyes. Belotero Soft is specifically designed for superficial injections in delicate areas.
