Polynucleotides: DNA-Based Skin Regeneration Treatment

Polynucleotide (PN) treatments use highly purified DNA fragments (derived from trout or salmon DNA, or synthetic) to stimulate tissue regeneration. The key active component is PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide), which activates adenosine A2A receptors to promote cell growth, collagen synthesis and tissue repair.

How Polynucleotides Work

PDRN/PN acts as a cellular "food" providing nucleotide building blocks for DNA repair and cell proliferation. The main mechanisms:

  • Stimulates fibroblast activity and collagen production
  • Promotes angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation) for better tissue nutrition
  • Anti-inflammatory effects reduce tissue damage
  • Provides a scaffold for tissue hydration

Indications

  • Skin rejuvenation: improves skin quality, elasticity, hydration and luminosity. More regenerative than HA alone.
  • Under-eye area (tear trough): effective for thin, crepey under-eye skin and dark circles caused by poor vascularity
  • Hair loss: scalp injections to stimulate dormant follicles — emerging evidence
  • Wound healing and post-procedure recovery: accelerates healing after laser or surgery

Common Products

Plinest (Italy), Newest (Italy), Rejuran (Korea), Placentex (Italy). All contain PDRN or PN at varying concentrations.

Costs

TreatmentCost per session
PN facial skin quality€250–€500
PN under-eye€200–€400
PN scalp (hair loss)€250–€500
