Plasma Pen: Skin Tightening with Plasma Energy

The plasma pen (fibroblast plasma therapy) uses ionised gas (plasma) to create micro-injuries on the skin surface without direct skin contact. The thermal energy triggers fibroblast activation, stimulating collagen production and causing controlled skin contraction — a non-surgical skin tightening effect.

How It Works

The device creates an electrical arc between the tip and the skin surface. This ionises the air and creates plasma, which causes micro-burns (carbon crusts) at precise points. The surrounding tissue contracts immediately, and a healing response stimulates new collagen over several weeks.

Indications

  • Upper and lower eyelid tightening (non-surgical blepharoplasty) — most popular indication
  • Perioral lines (smoker's lines)
  • Forehead lines
  • Acne scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Small benign skin lesions

Results

Visible tightening effect after crusts heal (7–10 days). Final results at 3 months. Duration: 1–3 years depending on skin type and aftercare.

Costs

Treatment AreaCost
Upper eyelids€300–€600
Upper + lower eyelids€500–€900
Perioral lines€250–€500

Risks

  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (especially darker skin types — not recommended for Fitzpatrick IV+)
  • Scarring if healing is disrupted
  • Prolonged swelling around eyes (3–5 days)
  • Inconsistent results if performed by inexperienced practitioners

Important Note

Plasma pen should only be performed by trained medical professionals. Non-medical plasma pen treatments by beauticians carry significant risk of permanent scarring and hyperpigmentation.
