Sculptra: Poly-L-Lactic Acid Filler — Effects, Indications and Costs

Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid, PLLA) is a biostimulator rather than a traditional filler. Instead of immediately replacing lost volume, Sculptra stimulates the body's own collagen production gradually over weeks and months. The result: natural-looking, long-lasting volume restoration and skin quality improvement.

How Sculptra Works

PLLA microparticles are injected into the deep dermis and subcutaneous tissue. The particles trigger a controlled inflammatory response, stimulating fibroblasts to produce new collagen. The PLLA is gradually broken down and eliminated; the newly formed collagen provides the volumising effect.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long do Sculptra results last?

Clinical studies show results lasting 2–3 years. The collagen stimulated by Sculptra is gradually replaced by the body's natural aging process, but repeat treatment can maintain and build upon the results.
