Fraxel Laser: Fractional Laser Treatment for Beautiful Skin

Fraxel laser is a fractional laser that creates thousands of microscopic treatment zones per session while leaving surrounding tissue intact. This controlled wounding process stimulates the skin's own repair mechanism and triggers collagen remodelling. The result: significantly improved skin texture, reduced scars, pigmentation and wrinkles — with a shorter recovery time than fully ablative lasers.

How Fraxel Works

Unlike fully ablative lasers (which treat the entire skin surface), fractional lasers treat only a fraction of the skin surface — typically 15–25%. The treated micro-columns (MTZ = Microscopic Treatment Zones) undergo controlled damage and are replaced by new, healthier tissue. The surrounding intact skin accelerates the healing process.

Fraxel Types

Fraxel re:store DUAL (Non-Ablative)

Two wavelengths: 1550 nm (deeper penetration for collagen remodelling) and 1927 nm (superficial, for pigmentation and surface texture). Gentler treatment, minimal downtime (3–5 days redness). Best for pigmentation, mild to moderate wrinkles and texture improvement.

Fraxel re:pair (Ablative CO2)

Ablative fractional CO2 laser. More intensive treatment, deeper effect. Downtime 7–14 days. Best for deeper acne scars, pronounced wrinkles and significant skin damage.

Indications

  • Acne scars (rolling, boxcar, ice pick scars)
  • Sun damage (solar lentigines, photoaging)
  • Melasma and pigmentation disorders
  • Fine lines and surface wrinkles
  • Uneven skin texture and enlarged pores
  • Surgical and accident scars

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How many Fraxel sessions are needed?

Fraxel DUAL: typically 3–5 sessions at 4–6 week intervals for full results. Fraxel Repair: often 1–2 sessions sufficient due to more intensive treatment. Maintenance sessions every 6–12 months maintain the result.
