Lip Flip: Botox for a Fuller Upper Lip without Filler

A lip flip is a quick, minimally invasive procedure using a small amount of botulinum toxin (Botox, Dysport or similar) injected into the orbicularis oris muscle above the upper lip. The muscle relaxes and the upper lip "flips" slightly outward and upward, revealing more of the pink lip tissue and creating the appearance of a fuller upper lip — without adding volume via filler.

How a Lip Flip Works

2–4 small injections are placed at the cupid's bow and lateral edges of the upper lip (typically 4–6 units of botulinum toxin). The relaxed muscle causes the lip edge to roll slightly outward. Effect develops over 3–5 days.

  • People with a "gummy smile" (excessive gum show on smiling)
  • Those hesitant about filler volume
